Trevor S. Elliott, Ph.D.
UC Foundation Associate Professor
Department of Mechanical Engineering
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga

We’re a group of creative thinkers who are building upon fundamental science to change the world.

Dr. Elliott is an active member in the AIAA, SAE, and NAR/TRA communities. If it goes fast, flies high, involves fire, or propels something he is interested. He has worked in broad ranging areas such as battery system development all the way to solid propellent manufacturing. With current funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) he hopes to advance additive manufacturing systems in the areas of propellant manufacture.

His teaching interests are in many areas but his primary thrust in engineering design. The creative and abstract aspects tied to the physical tangibles realized by his design students drives him. Each design team completes a two semester course sequence that concludes with a constructed prototype. Reach out and Come see what our great students do at UTC!

What we are best at

Our Areas

Additive Manufacturing
We work with all types of materials and processes, develop our own processes, and push the limits of what AM can do!
Ballistics Modeling
Our team has developed new mathematical models to simulate internal flows for rocket combustion chambers.
Engineering Design
The courses students take are developed with innovation in mind to create new technologies and advance the world.
Rocketry
Our Rocketry teams are second to none! With teams that have been first in national competitions to teams holding world altitude records, our students are out of this world!
Electric Vehicle Infrastructure
From design of electric vehicles and battery characterization to fast charging infrastructure, we have worked on it!
Off-road Vehicle Design
We love to get the wheels dirty and push our competition around on the track, come see some of the great off-road designs in our SAE shop!
