Dr. Trevor Elliott was born with an oily crescent wrench in his hand and general interest in all things mechanical, and some electrical. When he's not in a research lab or classroom he can be found working on a rocket or car with his daughter.
We have two focal areas: Aerospace and Automotive. Within these areas our teams work on subtopics ranging from design/development of application specific additive manufacturing processes/parts to mathematical modeling and analysis of injection driven flows.
A research proposal by Trevor Elliott, UC Foundation assistant professor in mechanical engineering, has won a $542,000 funding award from the National Science Foundation. The award from the Faculty Early Career Development Program of NSF is the agency’s most prestigious and is designed “in support of early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization.”
Dr. Elliott has been working with local industry and community partners since 2015 to usher in a center in support of the regional manufacturing needs while linking these needs with the education of our great student talent here at UTC. Many versions and locations for this center have been assessed and planned for and we will now have a space dedicated to advancement of manufacturing research and applications testing.
